4th Annual Artists with Disabilities Showcase
Artist Devorah Stone said she treasured the experience of a blind person discovering her work. “She connected in a way no one else ever had.” Devorah enjoyed talking to other artists and “coming up with so many other ways to do art.”
Les Chan said, “It was very successful and we are looking forward to next year’s show already.”
Again this year, on Dec 2 and 3, the VDRC hosted the Artists with Disabilities Showcase at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Twenty artists participated in the juried show, which included paintings, photography, sculpture, woodwork, and fabric work. Hundreds of people came.
One of the artists, Karen McLaughlin, said, “I found it very joyful. It helped me to connect with the public. It pushed me forward, helped me to get a move on with my art work. It was a wonderful opportunity.”
