For the entire month of June, we are thrilled to announce that the VDRC will be once again participating in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge! For every dollar you donate to our charity from June 1st to June 30th, our organization will receive a ballot to be put in a draw for $20,000! This challenge gives our organization the exciting potential to greatly increase our ability to provide programs and services to the persons with disabilities community.

What Could the VDRC Do with $20,000?

The VDRC Peer Outreach Program is a service in which one of our friendly outreach workers connects and provides peer support to persons living with disabilities who are experiencing isolation, loneliness, and disconnectedness in their communities. Through one-on-one phone calls, texts, emails or online video chat, they will work together to overcome social isolation and be more connected to their communities. The program has received lots of positive feedback from some very grateful service users, particularly during this overwhelming past year.

The VDRC would love to be able to continue with this program and eventually expand our operations in new and exciting ways, such as training more outreach workers. This would enable us to reach a larger population of persons with disabilities experiencing isolation and bring a greater sense of community connection into their lives.

What are the Best Ways to Donate?

In order to qualify for the draw, donations need to be made either through the donation page on our website (https://drcvictoria.com/get-involved/donate/) or through CanadaHelps.org (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/victoria-disability-resource-centre/)

How Can I Help if I Can’t Donate Right Now?

We understand that these are difficult times for many. Even if you are not able to donate at this time, we would greatly appreciate you sharing our social media posts and emails with others, using the hashtag #GivingChallengeCA

Thank you for your support!
