Disability Alliance BC – The Right Fit Program
The Right Fit Program helps address the shortage of wheelchair-accessible housing by matching people with affordable, accessible homes and independent living supports in Metro Vancouver and the Capital Regional District.
About
Disability Alliance BC promotes a more inclusive and equitable society for people with all disabilities through direct services, community partnerships, advocacy, research, and publications.
In British Columbia, the demand for affordable, wheelchair accessible housing far exceeds the available supply. To help address this gap, Disability Alliance BC is partnering with the Victoria Disability Resource Centre to bring the Right Fit Program to the Capital Regional District.
Since 2017, The Right Fit Program has worked to match wheelchair users with accessible housing providers. DABC works with housing providers and clients to assess accessibility features and ensure tenants are placed in a unit that meets their needs. The goal is to support people to live independent and dignified lives, while helping housing providers find tenants that are the best fit for accessible units.
